Dear Metropolitan Library System, Why You Gotta Bully Me… (an open letter)

Dear Metropolitan Library System,

Why You Gotta Bully Me?!

Yes, I love the fact that I get to read the books I am interested in for free. Yes, I occasionally go a tad bit overboard when I am excited about the fact that your easy to use app displays every book I am looking forward to reading for the month. Sure they may already be checked out so I understand the fact that I must place the books I want to read on hold and wait for my turn to arise.

Do you not understand the level of anxiety I get knowing I have 5 to 6 books waiting to get my love. I can only manage a good 2 to 3 books at a time currently with my busy schedule, so the 7 days allotted is not nearly enough!

Yes, I know I can recheck the books out or even suspend my holds but that entails more waiting for who knows how long. The fact that they are in my que makes me want to complete them all to avoid more waiting.

Let me not even get into the different dates and plans that I have cancelled due to some of the amazing weekly events you have at my local library. Iā€™m sure my family and friends feel a certain type of way because I would rather spend time with them inside of a library then going anywhere else.

I know, I know, you are just giving me what I want. Almost anything I ask for educational wise is at your discretion.

So as I juggle through reading The Water Dancer, The Autobiography of Gucci Mane, The Woman In the Window, and Silver Sparrow, due to them all being released the same week, I want you to know that I’m not sure how much longer I can take this bullying but I appreciate you helping me reach my reading goals without breaking the bank and I look forward to being in your death grip every month this year.
