What is God teaching me through reading my bible…

A wise minister named Dr. Tony Evans once said that you know when God is speaking to you through His Word when you are not only reading it but you are being transformed by it, and I have to say I completely agree with this statement. I believe there is no better time than now to get deeply rooted in my faith so that the ways of the world won’t have a negative affect on me in regards to the future.

When I first began reading the Bible I really didn’t have any specific expectations. I just knew I wanted to learn more about God and how this knowledge could benefit my life. It was having a spiritual experience with God that led me to His Word in the first place, so I just wanted to see why He directed me to start reading the Bible. Little did I know, God was setting me up for the transition of a lifetime.

I decided to start my reading in the New Testament since it is more relevant to current times and of course because I’m curious as to what is the Revelation prophecy regarding the end times. I am using this chronological order guide I found on Pinterest as a reading map, and it has been helping me keep the overall meanings of each book which i highly appreciate.

I learned so much about the life of Jesus from the 4 books of the gospel Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Jesus was definitely a man of truth and had no problem calling anyone out on their shortcomings but never in a vain or malicious way. Truly a character I aspire to be like. I’ve always been the one for truth but it has rarely been in a loving way, so I find myself going back to these gospels often to put myself in check when I need to in regards to communicating with others.

Since I am a woman blessed with the gift of vision who has repented for using it against God’s will (tarot reading), I feel I should share that after finishing the gospels, Almighty God blessed me with the vision of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ in a dream. It was so surreal that it’s hard to even explain it in words. However, I will say that experience gave me the confirmation I needed in order to know and believe in Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior in addition to making me even thirstier for the word of God.

As I got into Acts I learned the importance of the Holy Spirit, the importance of having a biblically-led spiritual family around me, spreading the gospel, as well as the fact that even the evilest of the evil can be changed for the good according to God’s will and purpose. Look into the story of Saul if you’re interested in knowing about that.

I’m currently going through the letters to the churches written by Paul previously known as Saul. Yep name change. Read his story. Anywho, these letters encourage everyone to continue to live according to the will of God and of course praises those who are keeping a solid relationship with our Heavenly Father through our Lord Jesus Christ. These letters are also powerful because it teaches what is expected of those who follow Christ. They not only condemn those who need to be corrected for falling short but it tells us how to assist and uplift them during their trials and tribulations.

As I continue to read and learn, I have decided to start being mindful in the way I dress, what I watch and what I listen to. I’ve also read the book of Proverbs which has made me aware of the things I say and to think before I speak or react. Sexual immortality is all the way out the window. I no longer indulge in marijuana outside of medical purpose, or drink any liquor excessively. I may have a drink while I’m out to eat or drink a couple glasses of wine at home, but no more wild drinking party nights because it’s against biblical principles and to be honest I don’t have the same passion I had towards it all anymore. I have decided that even though I am not perfect, and will never be, I will still attempt to mirror biblical principles for my eternal life purpose.

(Also see Ephesians 5:18, Titus 2:1-8, Romans 13:13-14, Ecclesiastes 10:17)

I still have a bunch more to cover in the Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth (B.I.B.L.E.) book and I plan to enjoy every aspect of it.
