The one without sin among you should be the first to throw a stoneJohn 8:7
Brothers and sisters in Christ, brothers and sisters in Christ…..
It never ceases to amaze me how there is something new to cancel every day of the week. This week Kirk Franklin was on the chopping block and I am clenching my pearls laughing. On the inside of course because that’s the right thing to do in a situation like this. It’s just truly sad how the power of technology is driving this world mad.
If you are unaware, earlier this week Kirk Franklin’s son released a video of a recorded conversation he was having with Kirk and at some point the conversation got intense and we hear Kirk Franklin spewing out explicits towards his son then hanging up. Now I say at some point because his son did not provide us with the full conversation just the portion where Kirk is yelling and cursing.
Granted I don’t feel it is right to use that type of language with anyone let alone your children, I must admit though, I can relate. I believe everyone can relate if they decide to be honest and not judge him for this situation. I believe everyone can relate to a time they were triggered and forgot about all the dedication they have towards working out their salvation and walking in the ways of Christ. Yes Kirk Franklin is a public figure so it is easier for us to be able to get a glimpse at times where he falls short but the fact is NO MAN OR WOMAN ON EARTH IS PERFECT. If that was the case then we wouldn’t have any reason to forgive, never would have needed for Jesus to die on the cross, and we would all be going to Heaven. We have to stop putting people on invisible pedestals just because they are gifted and talented and make a substantial amount of money from it.
I was just amazed at the different responses to this video. They ranged from him being a toxic and abusive parent to him being a fake Christian. I couldn’t help but wonder do these critics even think about how they respond to family, friends, or other people when they feel disrespected? Have they reflected on the type of language and words they let roll off of their tongue? Do they even know the full context of the situation?
I am a firm believer in everything happens for a reason and this may be a way God intended to wake up not only Kirk Franklin but the whole body of Christ in realizing that we all have internal heart issues that need to be addressed and can only be worked out through Him; Because remember it’s not what goes in the mouth that defiles but what comes out. It’s time to mind the business that pays us and do some internal cleansing in the process so that our light has the ability to shine brighter than times before.
I’m a firm believer in protecting my peace so if there is someone who is a threat to my peace then I will go to extreme measures, if need be, in order to create distance between me and the other person whether it be a friend or family member. Parents and grown children included.
It’s a lot more that could be said about this situation but I will leave it at this for now. I am just going to continue to pray for Kirk Franklin’s family and jam all of his hit albums.
Do not judge, so that you won’t be judged. For you will be judged by the same standard with which you judge others, and you will be measured by the same measure you use. Why do you look at the splinter in your brother’s eye but don’t notice the beam of wood in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, Let me take the splinter out of your eye, and look, there’s a beam of wood in your own eye? HYPOCRITE! First take the beam of wood out of your eye, and then you will see clearly to take the splinter out of your brother’s eye.Matthew 7:1-5
